Octopus may be the only thing on the menu for Germany soccer fans.
Paul, the “Oracle Octopus” has been predicting the results of every Germany World Cup match this tournament… and he has been right every game so far, including Germany’s loss to Spain in yesterday’s semifinal match.
Germany supporters at this point, are looking for just about anything to pin their loss on. Add Paul the “psychic” octopus to the list of those taking part of the brunt.
“Nothing beats grilled octopus,” Dolores Lusch said to Reuters. “Cut him up in thin slices and grill him on all sides with a dash of lemon juice, olive oil and garlic on it. Delicious!”
Paul’s prediction process goes as follows… an aquarium worker lowers in two food containers into his tank, each having the flag of the two teams squaring off. The container that Paul eats from is the team he is picking to come home with the “W.”
Paul’s first prediction for Germany came back in the European Championships in 2008. Well, Paul picked correctly again yesterday and German fans became irate. The hungry octopus is just too much for Zee Germans to handle apparently.
“Throw him in the frying pan,” said German paper The Berliner Kurier.
