NESTA, NO AZZURI RETURN
Former Italian international, Alessandro Nesta has told current Azzuri coach, Marcello Lippi, that he will not be coming out of international retirement. Nesta has been in fine form this season at the heart of the AC Milan defence. Lippi wanted Nesta to give the Italians a boost as they seek to defend their world crown.
Thirty-three year old Nesta retired from the international scene in 2007 after a few injury ravaged years. His goal was to concentrate on club football. He is still held in high regard at the international level and is arguably still Italy’s best defender.
