HOLDEN UNDERGOES SURGERY
USA and Bolton midfielder, Stuart Holden, underwent surgery on his fractured right leg on Saturday in Manchester, England.
Holden was injured during a challenge by Nigel de Jong during the USA vs Netherlands international friendly last Wednesday. USA was only awarded a free kick on this play, despite De Jong’s reckless, cleats-up tackle on Holden that would result in an injury that would sideline him for nearly two months.
Doctors inserted a plate that now covers his right fibula fracture. He was fitted for a cast and will be out for roughly six weeks. This will give Holden time to return to the EPL before the end of the season and the start of World Cup training in early May.
