Ivory Coast’s Didier Drogba was today announced the best African player, beating fellow Chelsea team mate Michael Essien of Ghana, and Inter Milan and Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto’o.
Drogba, who turned 32 on Thursday, was thrilled and admitted that he still has passion for the game even though he is coming towards the end of his career, with 25 goals to his name this season. Chelsea is still fighting it out in the FA Cup, EPL and Champions League, his goals will need to continue to flow.
While the Ivory Coast this summer is in the group of death, being drawn with Brazil, Portugal and Korea DPR in Group G, we are putting a cheeky wager on the Ivorians pulling out a shock and moving on, at the expense of one of the big boys.
