BECKHAM’S ACHILLES TENDON “TOTALLY TORN”

FROM ESPN -

TURKU, Finland — The doctor who performed surgery on David Beckham says his left Achilles tendon was “totally torn.”

Surgeon Dr. Sakari Orava says Beckham “is doing well” and that Monday’s operation lasted just under an hour at the clinic in Turku, southwestern Finland.

Orava says Beckham “will have to take it very easy during the next two to three weeks or a month and then he will continue with a recuperation program slowly.”

He says the foot won’t be able to “take much strain” for up to three months.

The 34-year-old former England captain was injured in the closing minutes of AC Milan’s 1-0 win over Chievo Verona on Sunday.

Wow, that sucks. I was hoping it would be a minor tear. Love him or hate him, the man knows how to play, and is a huge asset to any team that has him. I wonder if we the followers of the MLS will see us any Becks this year or if his recovery will take too long.

But on a possitive side, this is one less danger the US has to face in WC2010 (now if they can just get Rooney to decide to sit it out). I wish he could have made it to his 4th WC though.

As long as he didn't hurt his pretty face!

It's always a tragedy to see a person who excels in a sport get seriously injured and faces the possibility of missing a pinnacle event, such as the World Cup. Pretty face or no.
