MLS WEEK 6 PREDICTION TIME
Approaching Week 5, we at Soccer Jones had a record of 16 wins and 12 losses when it comes to correctly guessing the outcomes of matches (win, lose, or draw). Last week… well, bad predictions I guess after ending up with 3 wins and 5 losses. SJ now holds a 19 wins and 17 losses prediction record.
Let’s see if we can turn this around… here goes…
New York Red Bulls @ D.C. United – Let’s call it how it is… D.C. is bad. Plain and simple. Somehow, the Red Bulls have bounced back from a pathetic 2009 season to a first place position in the Eastern Conference standings. D.C. is in need of some points… obviously. We are predicting a draw, only because D.C. United is at home and as my good friend always says, “even a blind squirrel finds a nut.”
FC Dallas @ New England Revolution -With the loss of Shalrie Joseph this week, New England could be in trouble. While FC Dallas isn’t a league powerhouse just yet, we are still looking for them to come away with a “W” tomorrow. The Revs have lost too many of last year’s key components to come out on top against a decent club like FC Dallas, even if they are at home.
Kansas City Wizards @ Houston Dynamo – This may be one of the best match-ups we are going to see this week. A red-hot Kansas City marches into Houston, who has been solid at home. In a neutral playing ground, we would have to lean towards a Kansas City win. However, look for a draw tomorrow in Houston.
Chivas USA @ Chicago Fire – Well, this definitely isn’t the Chicago Fire from the 2009 season. Even with their not-so-hot pace thus far this season, Soccer Jones is still waiting for last year’s Eastern Conference finalists to make a comeback. Now may be the time it all begins. Sorry, Sacha… we are predicting a Fire win tomorrow night.
Toronto @ Real Salt Lake – The defending MLS Cup champions are finally at home after the league’s hardest opening schedule. The bad news is that RSL has sustained a lot of injuries to key players… play-making Javier Morales, Ned Grabavoy, Chris WIngert and the list goes on. However, rumor has it that Toronto FC’s Dwayne De Rosario is out for tomorrow’s match… things could get interesting. We are predicting an RSL win at home. Fun fact: RSL had the league’s best home record last season.
Colorado Rapids @ San Jose Earthquakes – Even if Colorado is marching into unhappy confines, they are still going to come away with a point. Look for a draw tomorow night. San Jose lost last week to a mediocre Chivas USA. Even if it’s an away match, it was still Chivas USA. Colorado, on the other hand, is coming off of a break rested and ready to go.
Philly @ LA Galaxy – This is a no-brainer. Watch for LA to pounce all over Philly tomorrow. Our SJ prediction is that Chris Seitz is going to be wishing he were never a keeper. LA is too hot right now to come away with anything less than a big-time LA win. LA walks away with 3 points.
Columbus Crew @ Seattle Sounders – Well, the Sounders have had some trouble as of late on the road, but they are now back in friendly Seattle, which as we have said before, has one of the greatest MLS fan bases. Seattle is a tough place to play. Last week, the Crew squeeked out a win over Real Salt Lake, which really should have been a tie. RSL’s Will Johnson netted a goal that was called offside and shouldn’t have been. Look for a Seattle win tomorrow at home.
