MLS WEEK 5 PREDICTIONS

Ok, so our Soccer Jones record for the MLS season when predicting a win, loss, or draw this season is 16 wins and 12 losses.  We started out strong and had a rough 3rd week when it came to predictions, but we believe we’re back on track and ready to predict some week 5 action.

Seattle Sounders FC @ FC Dallas -While Dallas has not started this season like they ended their 2009 season, we believe that sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut.  This week, we are predicting a draw in Dallas.

Philly Union @ Red Bulls – While this match-up is not exactly the game of the week, we are expecting a pretty evenly matched game in the Big Apple.  SJ is predicting yet another draw in week 5 of MLS play.  By the way, where did the Red Bull fans go during their 2nd home game?  How is that house not packed?  Red Bull Arena is simply amazing… get out there and support your Red Bulls, New Yorkers!

Colorado Rapids @ New England Revolution – This is another evenly matched game… Both Cummings and Casey have been playing some good soccer as of late and this is going to be a good way to determine just how good… or just how bad New England may be.  Look for a Rapids “W” on the road.  Casey and Cummings will be too much to handle.

Real Salt Lake @ Columbus Crew – Alright, this is the first time that these two teams will have seen each other since RSL crushed the Crew’s dreams of making another run at the MLS Cup in the first round of the 2009 playoffs.  RSL won both at home and on the road in front of a hostile Columbus crowd.  There is no arguing that RSL got the hardest schedule when it comes to the first five games of the 2010 season.  Four of five are on the road, and four of those teams are legit.  C-Bus will be looking to get revenge, but we are going to gamble and predict a draw this Saturday.

LA Galaxy @ KC Wizards – LA is the hottest team in the MLS right now.  With Landon Donovan as the backbone of the team, Edson Buddle finding the back of the net more often than not, and a solid back line, who can beat LA right now?  KC?  Ummm, not so much.  LA is going to notch another win despite being a much more solid squad than most people would like to believe.

Houston Dynamo @ Chicago Fire – The Dynamo are good… the Fire, well not so much thus far.  Again, we are going to go out on a limb though with what seems to be our theme of the week with “even a blind squirrel finds a nut.”  Fire win at home…?  Yes?  Wait, we mean yes.

San Jose @ Chivas USA – While we are not in love with Chivas USA, we are less in love with San Jose.  Expect a less than entertaining battle between the quakes and Chivas USA ending in a draw.

Seattle Sounders @ Toronto FC – This will be Seattle’s second match of the week and we predict that they will probably start showing some signs of fatigue by the second half of play.  This match in Canada will end in yet another draw this week.  Ole De Rosario will continue to impress and put a halt on Seattle’s hopes of coming away with three points.
