FRIDAY RUMORS: CHICAGO FIRE LOOKING TO LAND A THIRD DP

Last week, the Chicago Fire made some moves to acquire Swedish midfielder Freddie Ljungberg. Well, it doesn’t look like the Fire are done shopping quite yet.
On Wednesday, the Fire’s technical director Frank Klopas, said that the team who already has two DP’s are now looking to lock in a third.
“We made some very good moves that we’ve improved the team with,” Klopas said. “But the window’s still open and we’re still looking. We have a list of guys that we’ve identified and some of the guys maybe they’re contracts don’t finish up now they might finish up next year. But if it happens now or next year, it’s definitely a situation we’re looking into.”
Last season, the Fire reached the Eastern Conference finals and lost to Real Salt Lake who went on to win the 2009 MLS Cup. This season has been rather disappointing for Chicago fans, and the changes the Fire are making are just going to help them return to the days of old.
