ROSELL ELECTED AS NEW BARCELONA PRESIDENT
Former vice president Sandro Rosell has been elected as the newest president of La Liga powerhouse FC Barcelona.
After votes were tallied, Rosell was the clear favorite to replace Joan Laporta winning 61 percent of the votes.
Rosell will take over on July 1 as the club’s 39th president in the 110 year history of the club, taking over for Laporta who will be completing his seven year term.
“The winner of the elections has been Barcelona’s members,” Rosell said. “The high turnout demonstrated the desire the fans have to act and demonstrate their commitment to the club.”
Sandro Rosell: 35,021 votes
Agusti Benedito: 8,044 votes
Marc Ingla: 7,014 votes
Jaume Ferrer: 6,168 votes
