Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan gave his opinion today about the current state of Liverpool FC. While admitting that the fans were “a fantastic lot” he felt the blame lay squarely on the American owners’ shoulders.
He went on to say, “Liverpool are in a mess. The owners, being American, I don’t think they feel what we (British club owners) feel”.
Little argument can be made against this opinionated, but likeable 72 year old. However what Liverpoll have lost in one regard they have gained in others, previous ownership could never have competed in the transfer market for the likes of Torres, Mascherano or Johnson.
The key now for Liverpool is balancing the books and bringing the passion back to Anfield.
