So the transfer window slammed shut today at 6 pm BST, deals were still rolling in after the deadline though, as all paper work faxed in the EPL offices was confirmed, and stories slowly leaked to the press.
One deal going further is the Rafael Van der Vaart move from Real Madrid to Tottenham Hotspur. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has struggled for playing time in the last two years, but he is still highly talented and sought after.
It was thought the Dutchman was on his way to Bayern Munich Monday for £18m, but the deal collapsed and the Spurs were thought to have had a knock down offer for £8m accepted.
The EPL is examining the circumstances around the switch and a decision is expected on Wednesday.
Obviously dropping £10m in 24 hours is going to ring alarm bells for anyone, but with less that 2 hours to go until the deadline, Madrid thought it better to drop the price and get him gone rather than keep in for another 4-5 months sitting around.
