SANTA CRUZ STUCK AT CITY
Manchester City forward Roque Santa Cruz has pretty much been left in limbo for the next five months after failing to secure a move away from Eastlands.
The Paraguayan star had been told earlier in the summer that he was free to find another club, with a lot of forwards at the club it was thought that he would have some takers.
Lazio seemed, at one point to be favorites for his services, but a deal failed to materialize after the clubs couldn’t agree terms. Fulham were also said to be keen. Santa Cruz said of his situation to Sky Sports News, “Unfortunately, I have heard from the manager than he won’t be counting on me too much this season, ”
“I heard that a week before the season and I had time to see if I could arrange a move. But in the end the club were happy to keep me and they weren’t happy with anything that came through.
“Now I am looking forward to getting back into training and seeing if I have any opportunities to prove myself in the team.”
While we admire the positive thoughts he’s putting out, we feel the writing was on the wall, and expect him to get a good move in the winter transfer window. It’s such a shame that a player of his talent will just be kicking his heels for the first half of the season.
