ROONEY WANTS BECKHAM PLAUDITS
Wayne Rooney played down his form. In an aim to stop the media pressure building, the 24 year-old United striker admitted that he was delighted with his 30 goals this season and hoped he could “kick on from there,” but made no mention of trying to catch Cristiano Ronaldo’s haul of 42.
Rooney was speaking after the Manchester United game with AC Milan. He was in awe of the reception that the former Red Devil, David Beckham, received admitting, “I have plenty of years ahead of me but if I can get half the plaudits he has I will be very happy.”
As for the title run, with the form Rooney is in, I can’t see anyone else winning the league. . . . And the reason for all his headed goals? Rooney said, “It’s coming off my bald patch and that’s helping me score.”
