OZIL SAYS IT ‘WOULD BE A DREAM’ TO MOVE TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE

Prior to World Cup 2010, a lot of people didn’t see Germany achieving the success they did, especially with the absence of midfielder Michael Ballack.

One of the most instrumental pieces of their success was 21 year-old midfielder Mesut Ozil, who has now come forth stating it “would be a dream” to play in the Premier League with teams like Chelsea or Manchester United.

With only one year left on his contract with Werder Bremen, Ozil would be a sensational snag for potential buyers in an inflated transfer market.

Rumor has it that both Chelsea and Manchester United have shown interested in adding the Werder Bremen playmaker to their rosters.

If either team makes an offer, it doesn’t look as though Ozil will be turning down a move to England.

“There are four or five clubs in Europe that you would have to say as a player would be a dream to play for,” Ozil told the Daily Star Sunday. “Manchester United and Chelsea are very much two of them.

“When you are looking at moving clubs it’s impossible not to pay attention to the Premier League and even more impossible not to pay attention to Manchester United and Chelsea.”

“I am a winner and, when I am looking for a new club, I simply look at where I can be the most successful and where I can win the most trophies.

“If you look at the recent history of Manchester United and Chelsea then it’s clear that a player can be very successful there.

“Of course clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona are of huge interest and the Premier League’s top two clubs are of serious interest to me when the time comes.”

“I am under contract with Werder for another year and it is impossible for me to say if a deal will be done this summer.

“They may decide that they want to keep me for another season or they may decide to sell me this summer so they can get some money for me. That is up to the club.”

“It is very good for German football that big clubs are interested in German players, he said. “In recent years, there has only really been Michael Ballack who represented German football at a top club.

“For now, my situation for the next 12 months is clear. Only the facts count and the fact is, I am under contract with Werder. I cannot know what comes after that.”

“I am a friend of honesty. Many people extend their contracts long-term for better conditions, but two weeks later, they want to leave.

“I have never done that but have rather always respected my contract and been happy to fulfil it. Why should now be any different?”

Ozil is young, has good vision, and is an outstanding attacking-minded midfielder who would do nothing but have an immediate impact in the Premier League.
