Liverpool are a little concerned with Dirk Kuyt’s fitness after sustaining a shoulder injury during an international match against Finland on Monday.
Kuyt has been ruled out for Tuesday’s match and has been sent back to Liverpool for further examinations to determine the extent of the injury.
Netherlands boss Bert van Marwijk has stated that he think Kuyt will be sidelined for a number of weeks with injury.
“He will probably have a few weeks off and at 4pm today he will step on to the plane to Liverpool”, van Marwijk told De Telegraaf.
“He pulled some ligaments in his shoulder and maybe some are torn.”
This all comes as very bad news to Liverpool. Boss Roy Hodgson is low on attacking options after he was unable to lock down a number of strikers before the transfer window closed.
Plain and simple, the Reds need Kuyt.
