INJURY SIDELINES VAN PERSIE FOR SIX WEEKS

Robin van Persie’s ankle injury which he sustained during Arsenal’s win over Blackburn, will keep the Dutch hit-man on the bench for at least six weeks.

Initially, the Gunners were hoping to see the 27 year-old striker back on the pitch for Saturday’s home game against Bolton.  Instead of missing a matter of days, Van Persie will be out through the middle of October.

Of the possible nine points thus far, Arsenal have tallied seven, and begun their 2010 campaign as planned.  However, missing Van Persie for the UEFA Champions League could spell trouble for the Gunners.

The return of French attacking midfielder Samir Nasri to practice this week should definitely help start to fill the hole Van Persie has left his club.  Nasri was expected to miss a month of play after sustaining a knee injury on opening day.

While there is clearly a void to be filled in the Arsenal attacking core, there is no better than Gunner boss Arsene Wenger to face the task ahead.
