RAUL TO PLAY WITH SCHALKE?
Real Madrid legend Raul is set to leave his beloved club. The 33-year-old forward has found himself slipping down the pecking order in recent years, and is looking at one more chance to prove him at a very good level.
Germany seems to be his destination, although there are apparent offers from England too. The Spanish star has met with Schalke and is taking his time to make sure the move is right.
After ending his 18 year career at Madrid, many thought MLS might have been an option, but he obviously feels that he can stretch his career out in Europe. One reason Schalke could be Raul’s favored port of call, is that former Real Madrid team mate Christoph Metzelder joined them earlier in the summer.
Schalke pushed Bayern Munich hard for the title last season, and more is expected this coming season. With the added bonus of Champions League football, Schalke is an attractive option, and coach Felix Magath will need experienced options as he hopes to bring silverware to the Veltins-Arena.
