THE MESSI SHOW
It was all Lionel Messi for 90 minutes during this afternoon’s match at Camp Nou between Barcelona and Arsenal during the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
After Nicklas Bendtner netted an early 18th minute goal to put the Gunners up 1-0, that was all the Arsenal action see for the rest of the match. Messi had a hat trick by half-time after he scored goals in the 21st, 37th, and 42nd minute. Oh, but that wasn’t all… Messi would add yet another goal to cap off the afternoon with only two minutes remaining.
Messi picked apart the Arsenal defense all afternoon to the point where it almost seemed unfair. While there is much debate amongst soccer fans as to who is currently the best footballer in the world, I don’t remember Cristiano Ronaldo picking apart a defense like Messi has been doing lately time and time again.
“Over two games they deserved to qualify,” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. “They are a very good side but of course they have Messi who can make a difference at any moment in the game.”
Our SJ prediction is another Barca Champions League title repeat.
