BECKHAM RETURNS TO OLD TRAFFORD
Once a Manchester United midfielder, David Beckham will return to Old Trafford for the first time in seven years as AC Milan look to take on Man U.
“Am I nervous? No, but I’m happy because for the first time in seven years I am returning to Manchester to take the field,” Beckham told Milan Channel.
Beckham began his career with Manchester United in May of 1992 as part of the group playing in the FA Cup. After 265 English Premier League appearances for United and racking up 61 goals, Beckham left to play with Spain’s Real Madrid in July of 2003.
“I will meet many friends who supported me for so many years. It was always my dream to play in Manchester and I would have never expected to play here wearing a different jersey. Now going back there as a Milan player will be exciting.”
Manchester United fans should welcome Beckham warmly… well, at least it should be better than a Wayne Bridge “welcome back” to Stafford Bridge. Beckham has high hopes for Milan though as they enter the Man U stomping grounds.
“We know that if we play well, make good passes and create lots of opportunities that we have many players who can score. We are aware it will be a very difficult match, but nothing is impossible.”
